I just decided today after returning home from dropping my son at the local junior college that I might have something to say about people who leave stuff at my door. I do want to be fair in this game.
Let's take a look at the first batter, Randee Millspaugh. She left a flyer AND a notepad with her face and phone number. I like notepads. Looks like she hit a single. No website listed, though.
As I've been using the internet over a decade and I don't consider myself an early adopter, I'm amazed when professional people don't have a website or don't list it in their literature. Sometimes that means they are trying to control the "conversation" or control your access to the information. That is their right, but there are others in their industry who are willing to give you more access to information, so, all things being equal, wouldn't you go with the one who offers more of a free flow of information?
Her flyer does list homes currently on the market and closed sales with estimated square footage and prices. The heading at the top says, "Buying Or Selling, Please Call Me Today". She is asking for business, but my guess is that Century 21 hasn't taught her to make her message stand out. This flyer casts a widest possible net, which might be better served if she had a website listed in order to elaborate and differentiate her in the marketplace.
How many people still choose one average, normal real estate person over another with no reference to what makes her standout? Her smiling, attractive face does help her versus someone without a picture on their flyer.
There used to be a woman in my Toastmasters group who specialized in International Relocation in real estate. She had lived in New Zealand and England and now in Southern California, so she really did know about the hoops you have to jump through in order to make an international move. She stood out for those people in that situation.
Perhaps the listings of closed sales in the neighborhood will appeal to some people. Personally, I would ask a real estate agent about their recent sales and if I didn't like the answer, I would move on. I admit this may be a personal preference and some may really be attracted to her list of eight closed sales in the area. No time frame given, though.
Still, I give Randee Millspaugh a single. I wonder what will happen if I call her. Will she try and control the conversation? Will she be interested in networking? Will she be friendly as her picture suggests? Will she be too busy?
